Campus of 1 Million Square Feet for Blue Sail Shanghia

Blue Sail Headquarters Campus in Shanghai received an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Buffalo/Western New York Merit Award for Unbuilt Projects. CannonDesign is the architect and LIRIO Landscape Architecture is the landscape architect for the project.

The 1 million square feet campus includes a new headquarters, research and development laboratory, business incubator, hotel, museum, and exhibition space to support Blue Sail's growth. Each component is enhanced by biophilic design initiatives including extensive rooftop terrace gardens, indigenous plant species, a central courtyard, and a hill with a water mirror and aerial walk that serves as an iconic civic landmark.

Slated to open in 2025, Blue Sail's new headquarters campus will establish a "workplace of the future" conceived during the COVID disruption and anchored in an emerging innovation district in Shanghai's Pudong district. The project will reinforce Blue Sail as a global leader in health and wellness innovation and leadership.

CannonDesign and LIRIO previously collaborated on the Blue Sail manufacturing center in China's Shandong Province which opened in 2012.  "Our work with them has come over a decade during which Blue Sail has realized incredible growth from a regional manufacturer to a global innovation company. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership and everything that lies ahead,” said Michael Tunkey, AIA, CannonDesign's principal for the project.
