Montauk House with 3six0 wins AIAri Honor Award

LIRIO collaborated with 3six0 Architects on the Hither Hills House which received a 2017 AIAri Honor Award for Design.

The angular twist between the property lines and ocean lead to rotated geometries that underlay the design of the renovation of the Hither Hills House located on a steeply sloped wooded site in Montauk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

The house is approached by a bluestone path and landscape that negotiates the shift between the road/parking area to the house in both its orientation and the geometry of the stone pavement. From the front corner of the house, an overhang gradually emerges as the ship-lapped wall surface pulls inward to create the concealed covered entryway framed by flowering cherry trees.
