Urban Controversies - Paris and Chicago
Ron Henderson is invited to collaborate with the French Consulate in Chicago on the Urban Controversies project: a series of lectures and conferences over the next four years organized by the City of Paris on the occasion of the revision of the Paris Urban Masterplan (PLU) and with the aim of promoting dialogue on urban issues.
Henderson talk on botanical drawings
Ron Henderson gave a talk, You can cut all the flowers, but you can’t stop Spring, at the 2021 Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture annual meeting. The talk, titled after a passage from Pablo Neruda, explored 21st century botanical drawings of Abel Rodriguez, Kehinde Wiley, Macoto Murayama, and others.

New Horizons: Eight Perspectives on Chinese Landscape Architecture Today has been cited by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) as a Best Book of 2020. Ron Henderson was author of one of three invited essays, A Profession in the Making, included in the book.
A Profession in the Making, Landscape Architecture in China
New Horizons: Eight Perspectives on Chinese Landscape Architecture Today was published by Birkhauser in October 2020. The book introduces the optimistic work of a new generation of private landscape architecture practices in China. Ron Henderson contributed a chapter, “The Making of a Profession,” that surveys the advance of Landscape Architecture as a widely influential discipline in design, conservation, urbanism, and ecology in China.
Courtyard performance space for Studio Acting Conservatory
Studio Acting Conservatory at Logan Place renovated a former church into its new home for training actors and directors in Washington D.C. The buildings iconic shape was amplified with a red facade and new staircase that front onto a stage-like entry courtyard for gatherings and performances.
Gardner Museum Dialogues
Ron Henderson is invited to a roundtable discussion “Gardner’s Gardens,” with Charles Waldheim (Ruettger’s Curator of Landscape) and Matt Girard (MVVA) on the history of landscapes at the museum and recent gardens by MVVA and LIRIO.

Invest South/West “is an unprecedented community improvement initiative under Mayor Lori Lightfoot to marshal the resources of multiple City departments, community organizations, and corporate and philanthropic partners toward 10 communities on Chicago's South and West Sides.” The team of Darrell Garrison/Planning Resources, Julian Bonder, Ron Henderson/Lirio, Doug Williams, and HKS were one of the selected pre-qualified firms selected for this initiative.
